Christianity in the Far East The manifested interest in
Romania for the history of Christianity from these countries was a low one.
Generally speaking this interest was a low one. Only after the communist
took the political control in China, the changes from Japan and Korea after
the Second World War directed also the attention of the Christianity historians
over this area of the World. But what happened than was only the last
par of the history. It is to be mentioned that Christianism entered very difficult
in this countries, were there was a totally different religious element.
Than, the political and commercial relations between the European countries
and those from Asia influenced the evolution or involution of Christianism in the area. The new religion and those who preached it were seen as representants
of the European powers, who were many times not easy accepted.
The Christianism is present in Asia since soon in history, but organized it
entered there through catholic or protestant missionaries, when the commercial
relations between Europe and Asia developed. The Orthodox Church entered
later in this area, through Russian missions sent there by the Russian Church
or through the Russian diplomacy, because in the embassies were always
present Orthodox priests. These priests activated also outside legacies and
preached the Gospel to the inhabitants of the country, where they were. Now,
the Orthodox Church has a canonical organization through autonomous eparchies
or/and in direct dependence to the Russian or Ecumenical Patriarchate.
The Romania Orthodox Church is present in Japan through two parishes in
Tokyo and Osaka-Nagoya region since 2008.
